Windows 11 is the latest release in Microsoft’s long-standing line of operating systems. After months of speculation about the launch of a new edition called Windows 10X, which was initially designed for dual-screen devices (and eventually canceled), Microsoft introduced Windows 11 as its next-gen operating system.

Following the cancellation of the Windows 10X project, it was initially expected that its features and design improvements would arrive via a major Sun Valley update to Windows 10 in late 2021. However, when Microsoft announced a dedicated event on June 24, 2021, with a teaser image highlighting the number 11, strong rumors emerged. Eventually, Microsoft officially unveiled Windows 11 at that event.
